Helping our industry colleagues in need for over 40 years
The Market Research Benevolent Association (MRBA) is an independent UK charity providing financial support to individuals who work, or have worked, in the market research industry.
The MRBA assists those facing financial hardship due to illness, bereavement, personal difficulties, or imminent financial distress. Established in 1977, over the past 48 years it has supported over 1,000 individuals, distributing more than £1 million in aid, either through grants or interest-free loans.
Totally independent, the MRBA does not receive any government assistance. We rely on the donations, legacies and financial support from individuals and organisations across the UK market and social research industry to continue our work. Your financial support is an ideal way to give something back to our industry and help colleagues in need at the same time.
Every case we handle is treated individually and with great sensitivity. Sometimes people just need someone to talk to, so we offer support and advice and may even refer them to another support agency. In other situations, we may award a grant which does not need to be repaid or provide an interest-free loan with realistic repayment terms.
MRBA Skills is an education bursary scheme designed to provide financial support to help UK market and social researchers develop their research skills to enhance their careers. After helping UK researchers in financial need for over 40 years, MRBA has broadened its remit to support UK market and social researchers at the beginning of their careers as well as those who are eager to improve their skills and enhance their career prospects.
Those we help span all levels of seniority, roles and functions both agency and client side, including, but not limited to, those in research, fieldwork, interviewing, operations, administration and management. An applicant must have worked in the UK industry for at least two years, though not continuously.
I would like to thank you for all your help during my wife’s illness. I don’t know how we would have managed without it.
After the accident I couldn’t work for a long time. With bills piling up , I was getting desperate. MRBA paid one of my larger bills which made a big difference.
The MRBA operates independently and relies entirely on donations and legacies from individuals and organisations within the industry. It is governed by a board of trustees and supported by case managers who assist applicants directly. The Association maintains strict confidentiality regarding applicants’ personal circumstances.
For more information or to apply for assistance, individuals can contact the MRBA or by phone at 0345 652 0303.
