The AST Media MRX Golf Day certainly got lucky with the weather again on 5th edition of the AST Media Ltd MRX Golf Day at The Grove ☀️☀️ ☀️🏌️‍♂️⛳️

We had a fantastic turnout with 28 top Golfers from the Market Research Industry taking part to see who would be crowned MRX Champion Golfer 2024

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support from the Sponsors 🙏

The day started with a Charity Putting competition in aid of the MRBA – The Market Research Benevolent Association – Good practice for the round ahead.  With the difficulty increasing for each putt most people managed to make the first 3 – but putts 4 & 5 were a lot more tricky! One player however showed us how to do it with John Hicks making all 5 and then generously donating his winnings to the MRBA (Top Guy!!)

On to the main event and there were 3 competitions being played for

1. Team Event (2 best stableford scores counting)
2. Team Event – a Yellow ball being rotated around the team (would it make around all 18 holes?)
3. Individual Stableford to decide who would be the MRX Champion Golfer

The Grove as expected was in fantastic condition and considering the amount of rain the UK has had over the last 5 months, the greens were true and fast with the fairways firm and bouncy – yes the ball was not plugging!! 😳

This was proven with a bomb of a drive by John Hicks winning the Longest Drive and Dan Hocking hitting it in close to win Nearest the Pin Winner of the Team Yellow Ball game was Corrine Moy Paul Kingsley-Smithand myself with overall Team winners scoring 86pts being Ben Farr Chad Kennedy, Roger Perowne and Craig Tandy

So to the main event and who would be crowned MRX Champion Golfer 🏆?
There were only 3 points separating the top 3 spots with some fantastic scoring on a tough course like The Grove

1. Roger Perowne 38 points
2. Martin Oxley 37 points
3. Craig Tandy 36 points

Everyone said how much they enjoyed the day, the fantastic hospitality from The Grove as the networking started in the bar with conversations about how well or poor people had done on the course, before we sat down to a fabulous 2 course carvery dinner.

At the end we drew the raffle with prizes being donated by all the players and in total £600 was raised in aid of the MRBA – The Market Research Benevolent Association through the raffle and the Charity putt

A massive thanks from me to all the players, sponsors and especially Izzy N.who was chief fundraiser selling all the raffle tickets plus collecting money and taking fab photos throughout the day #topphotographer

The next AST Media MRX Golf Day will take place later this year Sept/Oct please comment below if you would like to take part I’ll make sure theres no conflict with any other MR Events – sorry to those who were over in Austin TX for IIEX…you missed a cracking day
